Madrasah Taleemul Islam
Madrasah Taleemul Islam was the first Madrasah to open in Preston in the early 1960s as a gateway for acquiring the Sacred Knowledge of Deen.
Children from all over the city were enrolled and attended between the hours of 5.00pm and 7.00pm. Some would walk from as far as Deepdale & Broadgate and some would come in the Madrasah Minibus which did it rounds daily.
As more families arrived to work in the local mills, the number of students increased. This continued until new Masaajid were built in the different areas of Preston. With each Masjid, a Madrasah was established. This tradition continued and is still prevalent today.
Service to the Community
Madrasah Taleemul Islam continues to serve the local community. It currently operates from the Oxford Street premises with a view to returning back to Clarendon Street next to the Jamea Masjid which it is affiliated to. This move will be completed once the new building is constructed.
Support Our Construction Project
We have embarked on a journey to rebuild our madrasah / evening school due to it's dilapidated and
unsafe state.
